Nemesea on the road!

Coming to a town near you...

The start of the Dutch Nemesea tour is only a little more than two weeks away. With guest performances from Francis Rodino and Cubworld, this promises to be a live package that is not to be missed. We caught up with HJ from Nemesea who are currently preparing themselves for a life on the road...

How's everything in Camp Nemesea?
"Everything is fine in Camp Nemesea. We are very happy about the gigs we can play this year, thanks to AT productions, SellaBand and our management. We are really happy we' can do a tour in Holland with Cubworld and Francis Rodino and also will be playing a number of shows in the U.K. We started working - a little bit- on some new material so this is very exciting. We are busy promoting the 'Sellaband on Tour', spreading flyers and trying to play 'acoustic warm up gigs' everywhere we can. We had a lot of fun at the Eurosonic gig in Groningen (Holland). This was a good performance and we rocked! Our favorite thing is still and always will be playing live, we just love it! That's Nemesea at it's best!

We also are very honored and exited to be on the Dutch Television show called 'De wereld draait door'. I watch it every day, it's a great show. We'll go with Cubworld and Pim so this makes it extra special! We'll perform part of a very special song, "The Way I Feel''. One of the reasons why it's so special to us is because of the way we recorded it. Jake over there in Utah, we were over here in Holland, amazing how the distance can be so big but the musical and emotional connection can be so close. We both had tears in our eyes when we heard each others versions of the song, a magical moment. We're looking forward to play it on television.

What can we expect from the upcoming tour?
"We are very very excited about going on stage in February, especially the shows in Holland with Cubworld and Francis Rodino. It will be awesome going on stage with these guys.  We are looking forward to it very much. Everybody should check it out! We are still preparing musically for the live shows. We'll play a full set so we had to dig up some old songs from our debut/previous album 'Mana' and make them fit into the set. We made quite a change in music style on 'In Control' compared to ''Mana'' but some of the old songs will work, at least, we think they will work, at least, we hope they will work ..ha ha...we'll see.  The older stuff is a little bit heavier and more Gothic related, we will "'PIMP'' them, no problem! We'll also play 2 really cool songs from 2 bands we like very much. We'll play a Skunk Anansie tune and we'll finish up with a tune from one of our all time favourite bands being The Prodigy. This means, jump jump jump!"

Will Jake join you on stage every night to sing 'The Way I Feel'?
"Yes, absolutely! If he doesn't, we don't play ha ha! No, I'm kidding, Jake is up for it so it's great!  This is something we wanted to do in an earlier stage like for instance during Concert@sea but because of some technical difficulties it wasn't possible. In Amsterdam/ Paradiso we did an acoustic version but now the whole band will play along and we'll play the version that's on the album."

What's the single thing you are looking forward to the most?
"It's our dream to become 100% full time musicians, you know, the moment we can all say, music is our passion, our job, our everything and we'll do it all day, every week, every month, the whole year etc etc. We are really looking forward to that moment. We hope this will be in 2008!"

What else in on the cards for 2008?
"Well, already we have some cool festivals planned over here in Holland, festivals are great because you'll get a chance to play on great stages and also see and listen to all the other bands that are performing, 2 in 1, for us a treat! We hope to get more of those.
As I mentioned earlier, we're already working on some new material. I think we took a big step with 'In Control' but we can do more and better, we always (try to) keep improving ourselves, on songwriting, playing, performing, everything, we've just started! We hope to see everybody during the Sellaband presents Nemesea/ Cubworld/ Francis Rodino tour. This will be a lot of fun with some surprising elements in it."

SellaFestival Fever...

As reported in last week's Tribune, SellaBand inspired events are emerging left, right and center. This week we bring you updates on events that we have written about before, so over to Hogdaddee for Sell-a-Jam Boston, Docnik for Vienna Calling and Mysti Mayhem for SellaBand Rio Grande Festival...

Sella-Jam Boston

January 25,

Featuring Lily, Wetwerks, Jon Robert & Jess King

Boston, Mass. USA

What's the latest news on Sell-a-Jam Boston?
"Everything is set and the show is on go status. It looks as if even the weather will be cooperating. Which is important as in addition to 3 of the acts we have about a dozen or so folks traveling from as far away as Dallas, Texas to Boston for the event. To date advance ticket sales have been light but this is not un-expected as the target audience is primarily locals and college students who are more likely to be "walk-ups". Also there's a handling fee on the advance sales which adds to the cost. Over the past week I've submitted info on the event to local media and to a number of the universities in the area.  While their travel and lodging are being covered, the artists are performing for "no guaranteed pay", though they will receive a share of the net proceeds (if any) from the door. To provide another means of receiving a return on their participation, Hogdaddee Gear has produced a T-shirt for the event with $10.00 US from each sale going into an artists pool which will be divided equally and distributed to all participating artists."

How are the preparations going, so far?
"Preparations have gone well and are very near complete. The Paradise has been great venue to work with and in particular I want to thank Christina Langlais of the Lyons Group for all her help. The Artists have been great both in their efforts to help with the planning and their enthusiasm for the show. And believer support has been tremendous. To all a sincere thank you! As in all new endeavors you learn a few things along the way and this has been no different but, all in all things have gone smoothly."

Why is this going to be a night that is not to be missed? "Well the obvious response is that with the artists performing it will be a night of great music exemplifying the diversity of SellaBand. The importance of this event may be lost by many in attendance, but it should not be understated. Sell-A-Jam USA is the first SellaBand affiliated event in the U.S., representing another step in the progression and expansion of the SellaBand concept. The goal of the event is to call attention to the unique program offered by SellaBand but more importantly to provide participating artist the opportunity to perform, gaining exposure for their music and attracting potential new believers. Further it demonstrates the power of collaboration between artists and believers, and on this basis alone and regardless of the turn-out, the simple fact that it is happening makes this event a success.

So the bottom line is - if you're looking for a night of great music and want to be part of SellaBand history then Boston is definitely the place to be!"

Vienna Calling

February 8,

Featuring SolidTube, Kontrust & Rooga

Vienna, Austria

What's the latest news on Vienna Calling?
"First things first: all three bands: Rooga, Kontrust and SolidTube are ready for the event, ready for Rock'n Roll, or variations thereof.

Rooga has a new guitar player: Elmar, this will be his first concert, so please be nice to him

As SolidTube's bass player is unfortunally not available on that night it comes in handy, that Pete Strobl happens to be in Vienna :) Yes, the producer of SolidTube's Sellaband CD will play bass that night! That will be indeed unique.

There will be a meeting with the media - print, radio and TV - at 5pm before the concert with members of the bands, JohanV and some believers. Gotthard Rieger, a well known Austrian music journalist has also confirmed his attendance.

We expect to be sold out for the concert at the current forecast. So, if you still thinking about visiting beautiful Vienna on the 8th of February, decide quickly and let us know."

How are the preparations going, so far?

"Concert and press meeting are all set.

Due to the press meeting, we have to skip the "Walk through the channels of Vienna following the 'Third Man'", but we will come up with the details artists/believer 'coming together' in time - currently planned is a brunch on Friday, location and time will be announced, fix for now your timetable between 11am and 14pm, and probably an aftershow breakfast on Saturday morning - so that the nightowls don't need to go to sleep at all :)"

Why is this going to be a night that is not to be missed?

"The best music you can get! Period. A real type of Sellaband happening, like it is meant to be: artists and believers coming together, joining in their passion for music and fun.

Hopefully due to the media attendance and the meeting with the press a step forward for the bands and for Sellaband

The meeting and greeting of the Sellaband legends on Artists and Believers site: Rooga with frontwoman Kati! Kontrust with frontwoman Agata! 50K SolidTube with frontwoman Mandana! Rey Gamba, Walter Braunsteiner, Namor, Albert & Sarah (who are on a very very special trip for which we wish you all the best - for now and the future), Jürgewara, the one and only Phil Sommersby, Alex_s, the Solidtube Producer and bass player of the night Pete Strobl and last but not least MaWa (flighing in directly from Paris) and JohanV (if you need an extra room, we can arrange that, if we are allowed to sell extra tickets ;) )"

SellaBand Rio Grande Festival

February 22/23.

Featuring Cubworld, Mysti Mayhem, Lucia Iman, N'Kenge, Spellbox and many more

Truth or Consequences, NM, USA

What's the latest on the Rio Grande Festival?
"The latest news for the Rio Grande Festival is being advertised in seven major publications in three different US States. One of these publications did a 4 page write up about the Sellaband artists and Festival. More than 5 radio stations are advertising and promoting the festival daily. The Sierra County Arts and Tourism Council are very excited about the concept of Sellaband, and overjoyed to welcome the Sellaband Community to Truth or Consequences. Annette Jones will be doing a special 2 hour broadcast on the Sellaband Rio Grande Festival with Live Interviews via Telephone, and fans can call in and speak to their favorite Sellaband Artists. The site is chat enabled, so you can speak with other listeners. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/Annette Feb. 12 at 10PM EST

How are the preparations going, so far?
"The preparations are complete. Almost all rooms at La Paloma have been booked, the Fire Performance by Phoenix is being rehearsed to the Sellaband Artist's music, and everything is ready to go. Are you? One more thing I need to add: Artists performing at the event & Believers to NEED to contact LaPaloma, and book their rooms asap. (505) 894-3148 http://www.lapalomahotsprings.com/

La Paloma Hot Springs

311 Marr Street

Truth or Consequences, New Mexico 87901"

Why is this going to be a night that is not to be missed?
"This event is so special. This is not just one evening, this is an entire weekend of festivities, including the best Art Galleries, as well as a groovy awakening of the spirits. The city is comparing this even to SXSW and Sundance. There is talk among City Council Members of this becoming an annual event. Buzz and Hype are fueling the mindset of the people, who have never heard of Sellaband, residing in this location. They will be introduced to a fresh sound, and are eager for Sellaband Stimulation. This Festival is NOT for the weak of heart. Prepare for your grandchildren to talk about this event. Live WebCasts, a Film by the people and for the people, titled 'From Our Panorama- A Sellaband Quest Fest'. Private After Party Jams with local celebrities & SAB VIP. www.myspace.com/sellabandriogrande ."

Q+A

Lori Greco

Smooth, soft and sensuous are just three S-words that spring to mind when listening to the voice and music of Lori Greco. It has taken her to Page 3 of our Artist search and she is yet another example of the many, many talented artists from Australia, who haven chosen SellaBand as their preferred platform to conquer the globe...

Who is Lori Greco?
"I am Lori Greco! A classically trained pianist/singer/songwriter born in Italy, living in Perth, Australia. I have two university degrees, one in music, the other in education. I am a piano/vocal tutor 4 days a week and promote and write music the rest of the week. I also perform, mainly at special concert events, theaters and corporate functions. On a personal level, I am a mother of two boys, a wife and I manage to successfully combine family life with music. It can get pretty hectic at times!"

What made you sign up with SellaBand?
"I was mixing and mastering my current album (called "Waiting") in May last year with James Hewgill Music in Perth when he first told me about SellaBand. He was about to hold a meeting with Mandyleigh Storm who was at $30K and suggested I join. Unfortunately there were many holdups for the completion of my album, so I wasn't able to join until early October. My album is currently receiving radio airplay, 2 songs are being streamed on an internet radio station and only today I learned that my album has been selected for digital distribution via modernvoicesdistribution.com

Any regrets so far?
"Only that I should have joined in May....earlier than I did! I am absolutely loving my time here so far."

What are your ambitions?
"To make it to $50K, to keep writing, and get my music out to a world wide audience, and to record a new album. My ambition is to deliver high quality music that speaks to the listener through depth of character, vocal excellence and emotion. Comments left by my believers suggest that I am achieving this. My songs are about my life experiences and many of my listeners have been touched, even reduced to tears about how they can relate to the lyrics. I also want the opportunity to perform on stages all over the world that may not have been available to me before. Through SellaBand, that is possible. I would love an established artist  to record one of my songs. That would certainly propel me into the spotlight as a performer/writer, and to get some of my songs into movies. I am dreaming of a SellaBand Diva Tour...I have made friends with a lot of the female artists here. I'd love to share the stage with them one day. I of course would want to meet as many of my Believers as possible too."

Has the success of fellow Aussies Mandyleigh and Vegas Dragons inspired you?
"Of Course! Especially with Mandyleigh coming from my home city and Brian visits my profile page often just to check up on me and say hello, as do my other Aussie colleagues. We keep an eye out for each other. It's great!"

You're a Page 3 girl on SellaBand at the moment. Do you have any special tactics to climb even higher?
"Well...I can't reveal all of them now can I? A girl must keep some sort of mystery! No, all jokes aside, being active on a daily basis, writing personal invitations to come and listen to me, offering incentives (be sure to check them out by the way) and allowing my Believers to get to know me personally as an artist and friend is how I approach SellaBand. The relationship between Artist and Believer = Friend in my book. Without the Believers, Artists are nothing. When people invest their hard earned money in me, I make sure that they know how much I value their support, and that comes from the heart. On a site which is predominantly into Rock music, I am extremely proud of where I am. I have never been mentioned in the chart analysis although I have been in the Top 20 real time charts for the past 5 weeks. For an artist who has never been on the most played artist, most played songs and most visited lists, I believe my rise to page 3 has been a speedy one. I really have to thank my Believers for that. They seem to invest small at first, but as they get to know more about me and my music, they keep coming back and investing more! So thank YOU!"

Why should people Believe in Lori Greco?
"For the simple reason that I believe in myself- regardless! Through my music, I hope to inspire, strengthen, give hope, bring happiness and above all,  connect with my listener through my music and lyrics. I am hoping to record a double CD. One to include 10-12 tracks of my originals, and another of jazz/latin standards which will feature a version of Phil Tweed's "2 Way Street." A truly glorious song. I expect value for money when I buy an album, so I want to deliver a value for money album of fantastic production standards, using my own hand picked musicians to make sure my Believers get a return for their investment. I will also film the process of  rehearsal, recording, mixing and mastering for my believers as my thankyou. I will be involved at every stage of the album as I was for my last, and I want my Believers to feel a  part of the process. It is after all, the reason that I can get back into the studio again. As a final word...if you haven't come round to listen to my music yet...here is your personal invitation!! Even if it is just to say "G'Day Mate!!" Enjoy your new week on SellaBand and let's see who hops on board! Lots of love and thanks, Lori xxx."

COMMUNITY SINGING

TalentCast Radio is expanding...

Believer initiatives to promote SellaBand and the artists on our platform are very much appreciated. They come in all shapes and forms and some have even become kind of 'institutionalized'. Such as the Talentcast radio show that has been running for many months now and we figured it was about time something was written about it in the Tribune. So, over to missY, who is one of the 4 Musketeers behind this very entertaining radio adventure.

Last August four Believers started a weekly radioshow about Sellaband: TalentCast. The show was solely hosted by radio Sunshine LIVE. Something that started as a little initiative is now ready to make 'The Great Leap Forward'. During the last months the crew of TalentCast worked behind the scenes on getting the program more interactive by building a website. We also teamed up with other radiostations (inside and outside the community) to get airplay for SellaBand music as a whole.

New broadcast times on Sunshine LIVE
We are happy and proud to inform you that TalentCast attracts more and more listeners on Sunshine LIVE (Groningen, Netherlands). For that reason Sunshine LIVE increased our broadcast times to 14 hours a week on Sundays. In that time we broadcast 4 times our weekly program TalentCast, we repeat 1 time our broadcast of last week and we broadcast 9 hours of TalentCast Non-stop in which we also solely play music from the artists of SellaBand!"

More radiostations
We started a collaboration with Razors Edge Radio Central (MN, USA) . This radio station will broadcast TalentCast 1 hour a week. You'll find the new broadcast times and the links to listen at: http://www.razorsedgeradiocentral.com. Also local radiostation Ede FM  is ready to promote music of SellaBand.

Vote for your Song of the week
To get the program more interactive a new function is now ready on the website. Members of Sellaband are invited to become a member of TalentCast. All members can vote on their favourite track of our weekly playlist from Sunday 10:00 (CET / GMT + 01:00) until Tuesday 19.00 (CET / GMT + 01.00). The winning song with will become our Song of the week. The charts will be published exactly one week after the voting has started. At that time our next voting starts also.

The Song of the week will be visible on our website and on the website of Sunshine LIVE.

We will play the Song of the week again in our next broadcast of TalentCast. Sunshine LIVE will play this song every 2 hours during 1 week. Ede FM will play the Song of the week twice. In future we will try to find more ways to promote the Song of the week. If you have connections with radiostations, please let us know to join forces!

Want to become a member?
All members are allowed to vote for the Song of the week and can leave messages at the website. Artists can upload their music to us. This is not a guarantee that we will play this at once in our program, because we try to do right to all active artists on SAB and we don't want to become an 'old boys and girls network'. Want to become a member? Click here to find out how.

Enjoy the music of SellaBand on the radiostation of your choice!
