Veronica Lopez
Bilingual singer/songwriter
Big things often come in small packages and Lopez – known by many as “Chaparita” – is a perfect example. This artist’s small stature contains a powerful voice and glowing, room-brightening personality, both of which shine through her music.
Lopez’s formidable song skills are rooted in a musical past that extends back to the age of seven when she began what would be a fruitful career by singing with Mariachi style music at her family’s restaurant in the San Fernando Valley, CA. She has since expanded the scope of her music and honed her craft to a fine edge. Veronica has performed around the world at cultural events, fairs, festivals, rallies, corporate functions and private parties.
Lopez’s extensive range, style and passion for her craft have been compared to that of popular vocalist Edie Gorme and the late Tejano singing sensation, Selena. Her ability to touch the hearts of both English and Spanish speaking fans has drawn attention to Lopez as a talented cross-over singer/songwriter in both markets. In fact, a recent article written about her life and work was entitled, “A Full Heart.”
In 1999 Lopez moved to Las Vegas, NV where she teamed up with Joel Osborne, nephew of the great Jeffrey Osborne for a project involving compositions in the R & B genre, leading to her recognition as a multi-faceted performer. In 2003, Lopez’s release of her first CD of primarily original music, “Corazon de Oro” in the style of traditional Spanish music, complete with live accordion, brought this dynamic singer her first success with a promotional tour of the Southwest United States as well as appearances on TV Azteca, TeveAmerica, Univision, Telemundo and other television stations in the United States and Mexico, plus airplay on well over 100 radio stations in the United States and Mexico, Italy, Canada, Australia and Asia.
By 2004, Lopez was touring, as well as writing and recording for the release of her second CD, Chisme (translated “Gossip”) on her own independent LO 4 Records Label. This CD has been described as diverse with a sensational mix of Spanish cover music and original tunes, including Mexican Cumbias (dance music), Norteña, Rancheras, Banda, Baladas, and Mariachi. By early 2005, the title cut “Chisme” had received airplay on well over 100 radio stations worldwide, and it is currently available for download on over 70 websites. Lopez’s signature song, “Mujeres Sexys,” also on the “Chisme” CD, encourages women of all shapes and sizes to be proud of their own unique beauty. Since its international release, this song has struck a chord with women of diverse cultures and nationalities.
By far, the most widely requested song during Lopez’s live performances, also on the “Chisme” CD is “La Gloria de America” (translated “America’s Glory”). Performed for national audiences, even prior to its CD release, this song is recognized as the “Immigrant’s Anthem.” Written as a tribute to her father, Lopez pays homage to immigrants of all nationalities who come to America, struggle but maintain hope and determination, and ultimately pave the way for their children and grandchildren to pursue their dreams. Lopez’s performance of this ballad received wide acclaim before thousands at the Immigrant Workers Freedom Ride in Washington, D.C., and in 2006 during an immigrant rally for an audience of over 700,000 in Los Angeles, CA.
Most recently, Lopez has been in the studio recording a new rendition of “America’s Glory, The Anthem,” due for release later this year, and set to be accompanied by a music video on DVD.
Lopez has had the ability to touch the hearts and win the praise of both English and Spanish speaking fans as a crossover singer, songwriter, and actress in both markets.

MEDIA ADVISORY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
APRIL 28, 2008
LAS VEGAS, NV—Bilingual and bicultural singing sensation Veronica Lopez, known as “Chaparita” in her hometown of Las Vegas, is celebrating the re-release of her widely acclaimed, “La Gloria de America” newly titled “America’s Glory, The Anthem”. Backed by a 20 plus piece orchestra, Lopez performs an impressive rendition of her heartfelt ballad in a manner befitting the song which has come to be known as the ‘Immigrant’s Anthem.’ Written as a tribute to her father, Lopez pays homage to immigrants of all nationalities who come to America, struggle but maintain hope and determination, and ultimately pave the way for their children and grandchildren to pursue their dreams. She has performed this ballad for national audiences at government events and rallies, most recently in Washington, D.C. and Los Angeles.
“America’s Glory, The Anthem” was arranged and co-produced by Lopez, along with famed composer, musician, singer and arranger Sergio Alberti. At a young age, Alberti, a highly skilled trumpet player and pianist, moved from Mexicali to Mexico City to arrange musical scores for a 45-piece orchestra, gaining him fame as one of the youngest and most talented arrangers in Mexico. He later accepted the position as showroom conductor at the elegant Princess Hotel in Acapulco, and continued to produce jingles for television and radio commercials until his move to the United States. In the past decade, as musical director for Las Vegas headliners, Alberti was encouraged to showcase his own talents as concert pianist, trumpet player and extraordinary vocalist.
The accompanying music video, co-produced by Lopez and Mexican-American talent, Art Zapata, takes the viewer on a visual journey that will touch hearts and bring a new level of interest to “America’s Glory, The Anthem”. Zapata, a screenwriter, director and movie producer. Together with Emre Korkmaz, Zapata has maintained involvement in diverse projects in the film industry.
The re-release of “America’s Glory, The Anthem” coincides with Lopez’s performance at the first Las Vegas Latin Music Awards on Sunday, June 1, 2008. Nominated in four categories, this petite Latina singer with the colossal voice will perform a medley of her original Latin tunes, concluding with this featured song. Long considered a crossover singer and songwriter in both markets, Lopez has been nominated for the four Awards: “Best Regional Mexican Performer-Female”; “Latin Music’s Rising Star”; “Best Latin Pop Music Performer”; and “Best Recorded CD”. Lopez’s extensive range, style and passion for her craft have been compared to that of popular vocalist Edie Gorme and the late Tejano singing sensation, Selena. Lopez has released two CDs, “Corazon de Oro,” comprised of traditional Spanish music; and “Chisme” (translated “Gossip”), a more diverse mix of Mexican Cumbias, Nortena, Rancheras, Banda, Baladas, and Mariachi, both of which have received significant recognition.
