'Fusing together some of the tastier grooves of legendary bands Led Zeppelin, Lynyrd Skynyrd & ZZ Top... but don't get me wrong - they sound like... Whitefire!!'         Elliott Randall - Steely Dan

Every now and again you stumble across a band that blind you with their brilliance, Whitefire are that band.

Hailing from North Yorkshire Whitefire are a stormin' young band that have greatly impressed me with at all the gigs that I've seen them perform.  They really seem swell tenfold in both strength and ability with each performance.  The confidence in their stage performance that they ooze is simply astoundingly.

Catching up with the band after their last performance, they were quick to inform me that they would be going into the recording studio with the mighty Elliott Randall to lay down a more polished demo of the bands material.  This resulting three track CD provides a splendid showcase of this band's wide spectrum of musical styles.

The EP opens up with S.L.R., a track that has been a particular favourite of mine ever since I first heard it played live.   This new recording of it sounds simply superb.  It's refreshing while still maintaining that classic rock feel to it that I have become so accustomed to with this band.  They are have pure quality running through their musical veins.

In Jon Sibley the band have found such a great front man as his voice isnt two dimensional like so many performers around today.  His voice is rich and layers with multi-dimensional qualities that showcase his impressive vocal range.  What can I say about the guitar work of Chris Mills?  This guy has all the makings of a true classic rock superstar with his clean cut riffs and no ego style of guitar playing.

With this release the band cover the classic Free song Wishing Well.  Yet another song that totally blew me away when I first heard the band play it.  Not the easiest of songs to do justice but these guys could manage it with their eyes shut and their hands tied behind their backs.  For such a young band to cover a classic so competently just goes to reflect how much confidence and self belief the band have in themselves.  The added keyboards of Wayne Brown give the track another dimension.

The last track 'Yesterday's Sorrow' shows the band have a more serious side.  A more down tempo song that still remains in keeping with the bands classic hard rock sound.  Once again the guitars of Mills are phenomenal and the added bonus of producer Elliott Randall lending a hand on guitar make this a really special track.

I have the highest admiration for this band and truly believe that given the breaks they deserve, they really could make their mark on todays music industry.  A few high level support slots could really do them the power of good.
