Ares (bass / DeepSkin / ex-MoonSpell) and Dikk (guitars / DeepSkin) formed Witchbreed in 2005, after writing a bunch of heavy metal driven songs worth of an entire album both had to decide either to continue the slaughter and get a whole band together or let the songs rot and die in the studio draws.
The decision was made after meeting with Ruby (vox / Extreme Attitude), in fact after both Dikk and Ares listened for the first time their own songs being sung by Ruby’s astonishing voice nothing would ever be the same again in Witchbreed’s short history. Right after being bounded with Ruby the three musicians soon recorded their first promo CD named “Descending Fires”, on wich they relied on their long time friend João Nuno Barros for studio druming.
Book of Dreams, The Witchbreed, Sleeping Gods and Medeusa (Angel Of Pain) were the songs recorded during the fall of 2005 e.v. The media that had the chance to listen “Descending Fires” praised the whole release and since early 2006 “Descending Fires” collected raveshing reviews and inumerous top positions in cyber charts.
A second guitarist was then needed in order to provide the necessary harmony and thickness to Witchbreed’s sound and there was no better oportunity than meeting guitarist extraordinaire Filipe Sousa (guitars / ex-Shadowsphere), a deadly gunslinger ready to shred and demolish in furious thrash style!
The final move was made during the hot summer of 2006 when Tiago Lopes (drums) joined the midnight club to renew the bands ambitions with his promising skills, creativity and motivation.
As the whole army was gathered a total of 11songs had been completed by Dikk, Ares and Ruby to wich Filipe and Tiago melted in perfectly for rehearsals. The sound of this delicate Witch is a breed of darkness and somber light, heavy and aggressive drawing influences from the old school classics as Candlemass, Nevermore, Iron Maiden and Celtic Frost all blended in a very exquisite and sophisticated Heavy Metal song writing.
The fall of 2006 sets Witchbreed’s live debut in the shape of a few selected shows on festivals all over Portugal and early 2007 will surely witness Witchbreed’s debut record and major international exposure regarding promotion and touring.

Just wanted to pop in and give you a heads up on Sommersby's October Competition!
If you haven't already heard, the competition (hot on the heels of his recent neck-in-neck September fiesta) will offer 20 parts for the winner and is open to all artists that have between $9999 and $0 in budget.
