On the 21st November 2019, Elon Musk unveiled the latest of Tesla’s weird electric cars. Yes, I’m using the word ‘weird’ to describe because that is the closest word you can find to describe the Cybertruck properly.
Anyone that has followed the Tesla company will know that the electric company is associated with many polarizing designs but the Cybertruck has emerged as the most polarizing of all. But anyone who is familiar with Tesla would know that specs and features of the company products always make whatever reservation about the look you may have disappeared.
The Tesla Cybertruck has been teased for a longtime by the CEO of the company himself. He has hyped Tesla fans to look forward to a great product in the first electric pickup truck by the giant company. Well, customers present at the unveiling may not have been wowed by what they saw but the event delivered thrills in other ways.
Tesla is brand known for its ability to convince customers to look beyond design and to buy products that they didn’t know they needed. It remains to be seen what the reaction to the Cybertruck would be after production but reports of over 146,000 reservations show that signs are promising.
Production of the ‘weird angled’ Cybertruck is not expected until after 2021 and a lot can still happen between now and then. However, that will not stop us from giving a comprehensive review of the pickup truck.
Our review is based on info by the CEO himself, reports from attendees at the unveiling and first-hand info from people taken in test ride in the truck.
Tesla Cybertruck | worth it?
The unveiling of Tesla Cybertruck was wild, to say the least. From the amusing reactions after Musk brought the truck itself to the podium to the cyberpunk outfit of Tesla customers in attendance to that infamous broken window (more on that later), there was a lot to enjoy (if you are not working for Tesla at least).
Despite all of these, the unveiling still served up on some impressive features that will make you consider buying the Cybertruck once it hits the market.
For example, the company revealed that the single-motor base model of the Cybertruck will get over 250 miles when the battery is fully charged. Now that is a lot to expect from the electric pick up truck. If this is true, it will allow drivers to cover a long distance will a full battery and they can easily get their work done. This is definitely a major feature of the pickup truck to look out for when the vehicle hits production.
Another impressive feature of the futuristic truck is the space. The first thought that you will get after seeing the truck is to think “how much space can this truck have?”
Apparently a lot of space. From the reports of attendees who were part of the test drive, word is that the cybertruck comes with a lot of space and room. The room that the electric truck offers has made some people call it some kind of magic trick – as it is the total opposite of what you would expect from its external appearance.
Another exciting feature about the product is the payload limit – at an incredible 3,500 payload limit, expect a powerful electric truck that can ensure that you get your load to the required destination with little or no fuss.
The payload limit puts it among one of the most powerful pickup truck ever, and if this true, pickup drivers would troop to get their hands on this angled truck.
Coupled with the payload limit is another equally impressive feature, which is the towing capacity of the truck. The cybertruck is expected to have a 14,000-pound towing capacity in one of its higher versions. Simply put, this is an incredible amount of power. What this
Elon Musk’s electric pickup truck is also expected to come with adaptive features that makes it possible for the truck to overcome off-road scenario. This is possible as a result of the adaptive air suspension and high ground clearance of the truck. Expect a rugged, sturdy pickup truck that will serve you well in whatever off-road scenario that you might encounter.
The biggest downside is obviously the broken window that has since made the man himself lose a huge ton of money and made the company the biggest thing to make fun of online. The design is also another part of the vehicle that many would love to see undergo some changes. But mostly, we would all love to see them fix that broken window.
What Tesla is saying is that it is going to deliver a pickup truck with clean energy that accelerates quicker than a Porsche or Ferrari, one that has the capability to carry almost 3 huge pickup truck and comes at a ‘meager’ price between the range of $49,900 to $70,000.
Now that’s a lot. It is fair to laugh this off as simply ridiculous, a pipe dream by Elon Musk and the rest of Tesla that has made them the laughing stock of the automobile world. Everything about the Cybertruck is amusing and looks more like a joke than actual prototype.
The optics weren’t made any better when Musk urged the head of design to demonstrate that the Cybertruck is unbreakable. Well you already know the story – broken windows from a heavy steel ball. Forbes reported that Musk has lost about $750 million since the unveiling – that is how much the broken window gaffe has cost the man himself.
However, this is Tesla and Elon Musk we are talking about. The company has cemented its status as the number one manufacturer of electric cars and if there is anyone to back to make powerful and fast electric pickup trucks, then it is Elon Musk.
Tesla Cybertrcuk, is it worth it? It is hard to say for now but there is a lot to expect about this product.
