Our fashion preferences have (understandably) changed after several months of work from home this year. We replaced our workwear with comfortable loungewear, and our slingbacks were replaced with cozy slippers as no longer we needed to be physically present in places, and neither we had people to meet. However, the year 2021 offers us an opportunity to experiment and play with fashion once more.
Feel delighted because 2021 allows us to start fresh, especially regarding stylish wear.
The following is a list of the major fashion trends for 2021:
Dressing with a Twist:
During the year 2020, eccentric fashion was pushed aside in favor of loungewear and, in some cases, pajamas. But, if the whimsy of Dries Van Noten and the excitement of Halpern’s shows earlier this year are any indications, 2021 will be filled with expressive, whimsical, and over-the-top design. Think bold prints, bright dresses, and contrasting patterns.
Denim (broad-legged):
In 2021, denim with a relaxed fit and a style of 70s will be the king. Denim with wide-legs and flares can set the world on fire next year, thanks to shows like Balenciaga and Chloé, and also our willingness to swap our favorite pair of sweatpants with something little trendier.
Sports Luxe:
Our casual wear in 2021 will be packed with comfortable but luxe styles that are perfectly professional for the workplace, stretchable enough for the yoga mat, and comfortable enough for the couch. Prepare for a 2021 twist on your loungewear in this style of dressier fabrics and modern silhouettes.
Proportions that are inflated:
With the trend of puffed sleeves not disappearing anytime in the recent future, it’s no surprise that big and bold will be a preferred fashion option in 2021. From Cecilie Bahnsen’s signature puffed dresses to Zara and &OtherStories’ high-street offerings, the voluminous and provocative trend can undoubtedly change the looks of our wardrobes in 2021 to make them more glamorous than it has ever been.
Big-sized shirts:
If there’s one thing we’ve learned in the last few months, it’s that comfort is essential, and huge, fluttering shirts are on their way to being a fashionable office trend. They add a sleek layer to your everyday outfits—just top this button-up oversized dress off with some chic accessories of gold.
Jeans:
Thank goodness, jeans are back on the fashion list! Our weekend outfits are officially high fashion now, and they’ve been a preferred option for all occasions, be it at your home or office.
Talking about comfort, casualness, and style combined, jeans are a good option if you are playing some games from home; something like trying Casino where you feel dressing up coolly is also a matter of concern while playing.
Seaside:
Who doesn’t prefer going to the beach on hot sunny days? From more literal representations at Versace to Acne Studios’ beautiful take on a net of a fisherman, seafaring themes everywhere in the runways (yes, fishing is highly trending too).
Maxi:
Maxis has been a very popular dressing style that we know about. Are you going out on a summer evening? Put it on with some sandals, and you’re ready to go. Are you attending a wedding? Accessorize with diamonds and high heels.
We’ve nicknamed this baby the “blanket dress” because it completely covers our legs while we’re lounging on the couch. We’re all about trying out some more sophisticated layering strategies, like tying them over a mesh turtleneck or a pair of trousers.
A checkerboard pattern:
To be honest, we’ve always connected this playful print with the season. Picnic blankets are to blame. Seasons are a lie, and time does not exist. Wear this print from head to toe all year long. They are still in style.
Bold Shoulders:
If you want to make a point, the bold shoulders trend is for you. Try a leather croc cape and sheer adorned skirt from the Givenchy’s, or a shoulder statement with a ruched tailored dress from Richard Malone for examples of the ideal combination of hard and soft.
Matching Sets:
You can still wear sweatsuits and matching sets at home, but they’re also appropriate for social occasions. With layered necklaces, a blazer, a sneak-peak turtleneck (peak-a-boo), or a pair of chic white boots, we like to spice up these pre-planned looks. But what if there isn’t any matching package with you, or if you have all of them in your laundry pile? With parts of the same color family, you can easily achieve a monochromatic look.
Chunky Flats:
Sneakers and boots have been the most common flat styles for the past few years, but babydoll shoes, ballet styles, and loafers should not be overlooked. It’s long past time to get them out of retirement. To make them feel newer, pair them with some longer-length socks, and you’ve nailed the school core, preppy style.
Conclusion:
Trends keep on changing, and they can also make spectacular comebacks with time. The year 2021 will be no exception. People will have more motivation and time to concentrate on themselves and their style as new fashion trends evolve.
People will want to go out more and take chances in 2021 to make up for the stuff they couldn’t do in the last year. Knitted skirts, mixed pattern outfits, and hardcore layering are all expected in 2021. GAP hoodies might see an increase in popularity, as people have already been using them with several outfits. Regarding hair and makeup, 2021 will be a colorful year to help us get through the dark days of 2020. Eyeliner and bright-colored mascara are sure to make a comeback.
A common hairstyle in 2020 was curtain bangs, and they will continue to be so; however, many people may shave their heads or adopt a buzzcut while using a specific color for dying it. Longer hair lovers will have their say, as unique hairstyles like two high braids, bubbly ponytails, and two mini braids will gain popularity. 2021 will undoubtedly be a year of transition for all, whether physically, emotionally, or in terms of fashion.
