On the search for new talented artists I joined up at Sellaband. Miss Marcell sure is a jewel! She attracted a lot of fans with her EP Storm and now delivered her full album 'It might like you'. She defines her music as 'classical' and 'punk'. The classical feeling comes from the acoustic sound with a string quartet. It's also punk because of the live sound with the help of four (!!) drummers. Just take a listen and be convinced of her unique sound. And if you have to a chance to see her play live: GO!!

Julia Marcell - It Might Like You One of the most succesful Sellaband artists outside of the website, Julia Marcell promised something special for her 50K release- and despite being somewhat different to her original material, she didn't disappoint. Featuring a more experimental edge, evident on such tracks as Dancer and Billy Elliott- Marcell ensures that she is more than capable of breaking through the stereotypical Verse/Chorus/Verse formula- and implements some of the most beautiful string segments to accompany her skilled piano skills. The emotion within Marcell's music has certainly not been compromised- with just a quick listen to Carousel or Fear Of Flying the listener can easily feel the immense passion Julia channels through her music. Choosing to not rely soley on the piano and voice combo, the string segments often add an important aspect to her sound- especially in the catchy 'Married To Life'. Julia's lyrics can take many forms. From the informative storyteller, recognisable in The Story, to the thoughtful philosopher within Outer Space. Her words are serene and honest- something that she has stayed true to through her writing processes both within Storm and It Might Like You. As a whole, It Might Like You is a stunning debut- not only does it captivate you and stick in your head, the album goes against the norm, and experiments in original and unique manners. Julia Marcell has truly put her heart and soul into this LP, and it's evident through every single track on offer. Definitly, one of Sellaband's finest moments. It likes me, so: Dancer - brilliant song. Piano line and percussion do the feeling. Strings and voice do the atmosphere. Billy Elliot, Side Effects Of Growing Up and Night Of The Living Dead - catchy, energetic, positive. They make me smile. Words Won't Save You and Fear Of Flying - delightful. Beautiful compositions. They grow lovely. This record is totally to my liking. @Abre Los Ojos: Any concretes? Or maybe you're just consumed with envy? ;)

A beautifully crafted album which takes you on a magical journey which is over all too quickly but thankfully can be repeated to your hearts content. The first thing that struck me was the CD case with is soft, rounded corners...It hinted at the beauty within. Get the LE edition, it has so many goodies, such as the pre-ripped MP3's, another lovely touch!

Słabe słabe słabe... Widać ze z polski.... Z reszta nie spodziewałem sie nic wielkiego jest poniżej przeciętnej widać dużo lepsza produkcję ale jak to mowią z ... bata nie ukrecisz. Są oczywiście plusy ale dotyczą stron w których Julia nie miała wkładu bo o samej autorce zbyt wielu pozytywów powiedziec nie można. Po prostu to nie ta półka do której aspirowała. Jak na szara przecietna polska rzeczywistosc muzyczna moze byc ale dla mnie to za mało ja nie słucham polskiej muzyki z wiadomych wzgledów do których Julia właśnie dołączyła....

Panno Julio, jestem oczarowana Twoją muzyką! Powalasz na kolana i ciszkasz łzy nostalgii, melancholii i euforii w oczęta, jednocześnie! :) Trzymam za Ciebie kciuki, z ręką na sercu i słuchawkami na uszach! Nat.

The best album on Sellaband yet. My absolute favourite is Billy Elliott. Great rhythm, beautiful (cross-)vocals and a finale like Ravel's Bolero. Other highlights (for me) are Carousel, Night of the living dead and Side effects of Growing up. But in fact all sonds on this album are more than worth listening to.

Mam pytanie, czy są jeszcze jakies inne płyty Juli? Zdaje mi się, że słyszałem jeszcze inne kawałki. Julia, GRATULACJE!!!!
