A big warm hello!
and just a note to tell you that I have a new song I would love you to hear. It is a crazy, revved up remix of my serene "Angel" and completely different from the original. It is totally unusual for me too - like a happy accident really, but very sensuous with exotic notes of the orient and I really wanted to share it here. It will add spice to a great night out on the town or make you want to dance with someone real close. Or at least that's what it makes me feel, so I thought I'd play it for you. It was born out of too many late nights of passionate brainstorming in the studio. So please listen for yourself and let me know what you think. if you like it jump on board and i will give you the song to have for your own '-)
peace, love and music

Aug 29 2007 21:28 CET Karalta
karalta is:
Scott Walker - vocals, guitars
Luke Ince - bass, backing vocals
Jake - drums
Band Biography
Karalta is a three piece band that fuses together metal, funk, jazz and rock creating their own unique sound. The centre of this sound comes from the combination of a six string bass, a seven string guitar and a wide range of musical influences such as Charlie Hunter, Glassjaw, Incubus and Pulse Ultra. Since their formation in 2003 Karalta has been working hard in the practice room to create and develop a strong back catalogue of songs. Their debut, self produced, album 'Another' was released in August 2005, and has received favourable reviews.
Individual Biographies
Scott Walker - I first began playing music when I was seven (having piano lessons for about a year and a half) but it wasn't until I was 15 that I first picked up a guitar (or rather ordered myself a left handed guitar). I spent my teenage years in Cornwall where I joined a couple of bands through college, inspired by local bands such as Rootjuice, Goon Town and The Turkeys. I played my first gig in 1996 at the Blue Anchor in Fraddon. Later that year I moved to Southampton (to go to university) and after two years away from the band environment I co-founded the funk, rock outfit known as 'Azwethinkweiz'. During the life of the band we played numerous gigs around the Southampton/Basingst oke/Reading area and reached the quarter finals of the national Budweiser Battle of the Bands Competition. In 2000 Azwethinkweiz disbanded and I began learning to sing, play the drums and also to play the bass. Soon after Counterpoint was formed with three members of Azwethinkweiz and two new members (Greg Schaper (now in Moral Lowground) and singer Christian Stoner). This band was kind of unique as it incorporated two bass players and one guitar player. We played a number of gigs around the local area as well as playing in the 2002 Emergenza battle of the bands competition, reaching the area finals. This allowed us to play at some nice local venues such as The Brook in Southampton and The Wedgewood Rooms in Portsmouth (both to capacity crowds). Counterpoint disbanded in 2003 and Karalta was formed soon after with me taking on lead vocal duties for the first time. I am still actively playing four instruments and frequently play at open mic nights around the area.
The bands that really inspire me the most are the ones that define their own sound making it nearly impossible for anyone to cover them. Examples of these bands are Korn, HedPe, Infectious Grooves and the Deftones. I am also inspired by quality musicians from any genre of music. Some people out there are so good its just irritating!
Luke Ince - I got my first guitar for my 13th birthday, but didn’t really take it seriously until I was 16 and trying to relieve the boredom of living on the Isle of Wight. At 17 I joined my first real band, unfortunately the bass player had to go, so I took over bass duties… and then discovered the Red Hot Chili Peppers… strangely my next few bands sounded rather similar to them.
Eventually escaped the Isle of Wight, got as far as Southampton before co-founding the late great band ‘Dr Slinky’ which provided a few years of gigging and good times across the south and occasionally London too.
A few years after the demise of the Dr, Scott asked me to join Azwethinweiz to provide extra bass, or guitar as appropriate, a role I continued in Counterpoint, which made for a rather interesting band, especially after I bought a six string bass, and with Si already playing bass I could go to town!
From the remains of Counterpoint comes Karalta, and now I’m the only bass player, so take a more thoughtful approach, drawing on numerous influences; Stevie Wonder, Parlifunkadeicment, The Chili’s, Incubus, Charlie Hunter, Tomahawk and Taproot, to name just a few.
Jake - Started playing drums at twelve and now after a nine month break from playing live I been discovered by Karalta, a band spookily pre-tailored to my personal style, taste and attitude. Behind me are four years of 'this is prologue', four years of 'outinside', a short spell with 'blacknielson' and various jams and sessions (including a session for Earthtone9). I have previously supported Cave in, Hundred Reasons, Sparta, Wilt, Kids near water, This girl, Minus, Cradle of filth, Anathema, One minute silence, Earthtone9, Pist on and Stamping ground. Influences include Primus, Deftones, incubus and tool.
A big warm hello!
